Effective December 10, 2025
The Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries has issued a precautionary shellfishing closure for the entirety of Nauset Estuary in Orleans.
Recent water samples reflected high levels of red tide. Shellfish samples are being sent to the testing laboratory and if they come back clean, the fishery will be re-opened immediately. Lab results are likely due back by the end of next week.
