Early Childhood Education & Care Program

The Early Childhood Education & Cape Program exists to help local families supplement costs of childcare and preschool services for Orleans children ages birth to four (4) years old. Grants of up to $7,000 are available and funds will be distributed directly to the state licensed child care facility.

Eligibility requirements are as follows:

  • Child’s age
  • Residency status
  • Vendor selection

We are no longer accepting FY26 applications.

On December 3, 2025, the Select Board unanimously voted to expand the Town’s Early Childhood Education & Care grant program. Under the updated program, Orleans residents with children from birth through age four may apply for grants of up to $7,000 per child to help offset the cost of early childhood education and care.

Care must be provided by a state-licensed facility, which will invoice the Town directly. The age cutoff is August 31, consistent with the public school system. The next grant cycle will run from July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027.

Families interested in the program are encouraged to complete a brief survey to help the Town gauge interest and plan for FY2027 funding.
