Chief's Message

On behalf of the Orleans Police Department, I welcome your interest in our department. I am honored to lead what I consider to be the finest group of police personnel I know. The men and women employed here are committed to providing quality police services to our citizens and to those who visit and work in our community. This website offers you an opportunity to look at our department and some of the services we have to offer you.

Our goal is to prevent and control crime in an effort to make our community a safe and enjoyable place to live. We accomplish this goal through a proactive community problem-solving approach, and encourage your involvement to assist us in this endeavor.

It is my personal goal to see that our police officers are trained to the greatest degree possible to ensure that the highest ethical standards of integrity are met and that the members of the public we serve are dealt with in a respectful manner, which treats them with fairness and dignity in a consistent and equitable exercise of police powers and discretion.

We are a State Accredited Agency that stresses professionalism in every aspect of our job. Our partnership with the citizens of Orleans and those visiting our Town is very important to us. Our department is dedicated to the concept of community policing with a concentration on prevention and problem-solving. We operate under the philosophy that it is preferable to prevent crime than to successfully prosecute crime. Prevention of crime is one of the many keys to maintaining the high quality of life and comparatively low crime rate enjoyed by our citizens.
